Another famous landmark of Mackinac Island is the Grand Hotel, and our trips are never complete without taking a stroll on the front lawn.
We hit the Grand Hotel at the end, and it happened to be a very hot day, especially for Mackinac. The boys jumped at the chance to cool off in the fountain on the front lawn.
They ended up getting drenched. And I didn't even care. It was a highlight of my summer to sit back and watch them splash and have the time of their lives. What is childhood if you can't get sopping wet in a fountain every once and a while?
Nash kept referring to himself in third person; "Look at him! He's all wet!"
Since they were already soaked, my dad let Nash walk right into the lake fully clothed as well.
Blake made a few rock structures on the shore.
We soaked up (literally) our last hour on the island before heading back towards the ferry.
"Summer will end soon enough, and childhood as well."
-George R.R. Martin, A Game of Thrones
