Spring According to My Phone

As usual, much of our on-the-go activities ended up on my phone camera roll.

Finn tagged along for many baseball games and practices.

Blake did an overnight sleep study to see if his large tonsils were obstructing his sleep and needed to be removed.

Thankfully, the results determined he wouldn't need surgery.

Blake also had an EEG test to rule out some things and spent 24 hours connected to wires and a backpack monitor. He wasn't about to leave the house in that getup but we played a lot of board games in the backyard.

It turned into a reading nook/hangout for the day.

It's always a big deal to pull out the rain boots and umbrella on rainy days.

We scootered to end-of-school performances.

We ended up with a whole lot of boys at our house after school one day and of course they couldn't just take the sidewalk.

We enjoyed our sunshiny spring park days.

Crew watched butterflies form and hatch at preschool.

I went to a "Muffins with Mom" breakfast with Crew to kick off Mother's Day weekend.

My mom and I went to a women's conference to hear Sheri Dew speak on Mother's Day weekend and ended the outing with lunch and a walk on the beach.

Blake expanded his cooking repertoire.

It's too bad the children under 6 can't read since Nash was so clear on the rules of the room.
IMG_1297.jpg

I took Nash on a one-on-one date to go rock climbing and he fell in love.
IMG_1469.jpg

He especially liked picking out a book at Barnes and Noble afterwards and couldn't wait until we got home to dig into it.

Just like that, Maycember ended, school was out for the summer and it was on to figuring out how to keep the boys entertained all day everyday.

I stayed to volunteer and helped at the sand art and necklace making stations.

After an adorable musical program, the preschoolers were promised popsicles.

Finn finagled his way into getting a popsicle too.

We adored Crew's preschool and teacher and are so happy that Finn will get to attend next year while Crew is off at Kindergarten.

Once Upon a Lily Pad

Nash had the very important role of Egret #3 in the second grade musical, Once Upon a Lily Pad.

Second graders sure are cute.

Of course I made Nash pose in his egret costume (and too small baseball pants).

Meanwhile, Finn rolled down the grassy hill over and over.

Crew and Finn enjoyed the play just as much as I did.

Maycember

The end of the school year is busier than December with all of the projects, parties and performances so I like to call it Maycember.

Nash did a report on Albert Einstein.

Blake had a strings performance.

He carried that cello back and forth to school twice a week in addition to his backpack.

Finn was sad that Crew was getting all of the attention.

So he posed for me too.

Nash and Blake had a spring piano recital.

Nash won an award for being the top reader in his class. His teacher pushed the Scholastic Reading Counts program like no other and had a huge competition going on all year. Nash was super motivated by this and was neck and neck with a couple of other kids in his class. It was a huge accomplishment to receive that medal.

The top two readers from each class got to stand up and be recognized in front of the whole school.

Nash's brothers were especially proud of him.

Blake made him the sweetest card to congratulate him.

Nash had the same teacher for two years in a row because she moved up a grade and she was so great for him. She believed in him and pushed him to be better. I credit her for his love of reading. Sometimes I think she understood Nash and his potential more than me! I'm so grateful for outstanding teachers. Nash is sure going to miss her next year.

We survived Maycember and celebrated the last day of school with the 5th grade clap out. Our friend Reese graduated from elementary school and I got a little teary thinking about how that will be Blake next year.
